Harry Hall and Colin Riley, formed Hall & Riley Builders Ltd in November 1982, and carried out small contracts initially in the domestic market. Upon gaining Essex County Council approved status, the company secured the contract for the refurbishment of Basildon Fire Station, the first of many successful projects for ECC, in a relationship that continues to date.
Our work has been diverse over the years, with an emphasis on works within the Educational and Health sectors, but also with contracts carried out over the years for Local Authorities, Social Housing and Ecclesiastical Clients.
We have carried out contracts for international concerns such as Phillip Morris, including the refurbishment of their offices in East London , which they later sold to Thames TV.
In those early years the set for the TV series The Bill was set in that refurbished building. We have risen to the challenges presented by modern times, setting up computerised estimating in 1988 and invested heavily in the development of the technology that, among other things, gives us the ability to both receive and send tender enquiries electronically, thus saving our clients time and money. We look forward to the next 25 years and all the challenges it may bring!
